West Valley City Council approves budget amendment, licensing change and several contracts

West Valley City Council on April 14 approved a series of routine but consequential items including a midyear budget amendment and multiple contract and board changes.
The council moved to approve Ordinance 26‑11, an amendment to the city's fiscal year 2025–26 operating budget. After a motion and second, City Recorder Miss Kamik called the roll and the ordinance passed unanimously.
Council also approved Ordinance 26‑12, which retains the requirement that two of the three members of the license hearing board be city residents while removing a prior employee‑and‑business‑interest requirement for the third member, allowing greater flexibility for that position. The ordinance was adopted by unanimous vote.
On contracts, the council approved Resolution 26‑33, a franchise agreement authorizing Sense of Wave to construct and maintain a telecommunications network in the city. The council also approved Resolution 26‑34, which awards the city's solid waste and recycling collection and disposal contract to ACE Recycling and Disposal. Public Works staff said ACE was selected from two responsive proposals; the contract term begins in July and runs six years with two optional two‑year extensions. Both resolutions passed unanimously.
The council approved Resolution 26‑35, authorizing the sale of a city parcel adjacent to 2300 South and 5700 West to WVC Owner LLC for $11,000. That motion also passed unanimously.
Each of the above motions was moved and seconded on the record; Miss Kamik recorded unanimous ayes. The meeting then adjourned.
