Greenwich RTM elects Alexis Vulggeras moderator, Katherine Labalo as moderator pro

Alexis Vulggeras was elected moderator of the Greenwich Representative Town Meeting in an uncontested vote, winning 192 votes, the body announced at its January organizational session. Colleen Jenkins nominated Vulggeras; members closed nominations and voted by electronic ballot.

The RTM also elected Katherine Labalo as moderator pro in an uncontested election that passed 201–0 after a roll call. Jude Collins nominated Labalo.

The results conclude the RTM’s leadership organization for the 2026–27 term and were followed by brief remarks from both officers. Vulggeras thanked colleagues and reflected on the long history of the RTM, said she looks forward to serving another two years and asked the first selectman to consider a charter-change discussion about raising the 20-signature threshold required to place a petition on the call. “If the town of roughly 60,000 people is going to adopt a law that impacts all of us, then perhaps the threshold to put that item on the call should be higher than the 20 people who are sitting around their dinner table,” Vulggeras said.

The session also included in-person introductions from district and committee chairs and their officers. Several chairs read their officer rosters into the record so members would know the nominees who will lead committees for the coming term. The moderator asked returning members to serve as ambassadors for 67 new members joining the RTM this term.

The RTM’s organizational actions were procedural and received broad support; multiple members stressed the value of mentoring new members and preserving the RTM’s traditions. The moderator closed the organizational component of the meeting and moved to the remainder of the January call.

The RTM will next meet in a special session on Feb. 4 to consider an interim appropriation for the Old Greenwich School building project.
