Morrison County board proclaims weeks for telecommunicators, public health, organ donation and child abuse prevention

The Morrison County Board of Commissioners opened its meeting with four proclamations recognizing public-safety and public-health observances and local initiatives.

Victoria and Jane read a proclamation declaring April 12–18, 2026, National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week and commended Morrison County dispatchers as the “critical link” for law enforcement, firefighters and other first responders. The board moved and seconded the proclamation and adopted it by voice vote.

Carmen, Cindy and Nathan presented a proclamation declaring April 6–10 National Public Health Week. The text highlighted public-health advances including reduced childhood mortality and lowered smoking rates, and noted persistent disparities by race, ethnicity and ZIP code. Commissioner Casper thanked public-health staff for “work behind the scenes.” The board adopted the proclamation by voice vote.

Denise Vogle of the License Bureau read a proclamation declaring April 2026 as National Donate Life Month, urging residents to register as organ, eye and tissue donors at life-source.org/register or at local DMVs. She noted that one donor’s decision can affect many lives; commissioners thanked her and adopted the proclamation.

Representatives of Morrison County Family Connections—Megan, Laura and Cindy—presented a proclamation declaring April Child Abuse Prevention Month and described local supports including parenting education, a family-resource center and a “Pinwheels for Prevention” fundraiser to be displayed in Little Falls. Commissioners praised the collaborative work and adopted the proclamation.

All four proclamations were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. Presenters were invited to remain for photographs and to share contact information for follow-up outreach and promotion.
