Resolution 124 approved $557,000 for summer youth payroll services (July 30, 2026–July 30, 2027) and Resolution 125 added $725,000 for additional youth program payroll services (May 15, 2026–June 30, 2027). All three measures carried by voice vote after brief motions and seconds.
During committee discussion members asked how many young people participate and where they work. County staff said the year‑round program had 167 participants as of Dec. 31, 2025, and that placements include nonprofit organizations such as the YMCA and Boys & Girls Club, small businesses (example cited: Good Eatens), Kingston Tire, and county placements. Staff said a list of current work sites is posted at olsterworks.com under young adult programming.
Staff also described host requirements: businesses must be willing to host at least two young people (no solo placements), provide an on‑site supervisor and act as a mentor to support early employment experience. Businesses seeking to host participants can submit a work‑site request on the website or contact the Office of Employment and Training at 845‑340‑3170 for application materials.
