The first is Policy GBR (professional personal leaves and absences), which staff said must be revised to implement House Bill 235. The superintendent summarized the bill’s leave entitlements for donated bone marrow (up to seven days) and organs (up to 30 days), said those days count toward retirement service, and noted local boards or charter systems may not waive the leave.
The second is Policy IFBG (internet acceptable use). Staff said the policy will be updated to reflect Senate Bill 351 (the Protecting Georgia’s Children on Social Media Act of 2024), effective July 1, 2025. The proposed changes include stricter content filtering, monitoring and supervision protocols, limiting student access to social media to supervised educational use, clear expectations for staff training and parent collaboration, and submission of the updated policy to the Georgia Department of Education for review.
Both redlined policy drafts will be posted to the district website for a 30‑day feedback cycle and returned to the board for consideration after the comment period.
