The Ventura Unified School District introduced Miss Ortiz at the July 9 board meeting as a new school leader with 22 years of experience in education. Staff praised Ortiz's background in outreach, counseling and site leadership, noting her work in special education and intervention and her bilingual Spanish skills.
In her remarks Ortiz said she is "deeply honored and excited to serve" and that she lives in Ventura and has seen the district's impact on her own children, adding that she looked forward to "working collaboratively with the district, teachers, staff, students, parents and community to build a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive." Trustees welcomed Ortiz and thanked her and her family for attending the meeting.
The district noted Ortiz will join staff at the named campus presented during the good‑news segment; trustees offered congratulations and expressed confidence in her leadership.
