The presenter said the CCIU has used alternative revenue sources and cooperative purchasing to keep district costs low.
The presenter emphasized student outcomes in CTE programs (industry certifications, college credits and hours toward licensure) and workforce connections, noting that the CCIU accepts all applicants to certain CTE offerings and reported strong enrollment from OJ Roberts students. The CCIU also described capital investments in special‑education campuses—opening a Great Valley campus and a southern Chester County campus—to reduce travel times for students with high needs.
Board discussion touched on a state‑budget anomaly that required the CCIU to secure lines of credit previously when Harrisburg delayed the statewide budget, and the presenter urged continued legislative attention to timely state budgeting because of cash‑flow impacts on local programs.
The committee voted to move the CCIU budget recommendation to the full board for approval at the April 13 meeting.
