The Griffin‑Spalding County Board of Education unanimously appointed Mrs. Melinda Lennon Puit as deputy superintendent on Feb. 24 following a recommendation by Superintendent Dr. Donald Warren.
Dr. Warren introduced Puit as a district product who has served the system in multiple roles, including teacher, assistant principal and executive officer in the central office. He cited her work on systemwide accountability, graduation rate improvement, leadership development and school climate and equity initiatives.
Board members offered congratulations and praised Puit's experience in the district. Following a motion and second, the board conducted a verbal vote by district and approved the appointment unanimously.
Puit was invited to take her new seat on the dais; the board did not amend the superintendent's recommendation during the meeting.
