Committee hears request to extend Corner House project encumbrance deadline to 2029

Sen. Fateh told the Senate Capital Investment Committee on April 16 that Corner House, a provider serving abused children, is seeking an extension of the encumbrance deadline on state capital project funding from Dec. 31, 2027, to 2029 to allow time to finalize a potential joint-building project with a neighboring provider.
Fateh described Corner House’s completed capital project feasibility study and fundraising plans and emphasized that the request would not add new state money but would extend the timeframe in which existing commitments can be drawn down. "This isn't any new money — it's just an extension of the deadline," Fateh said.
Committee members had no substantive questions and laid the bill over for inclusion in the omnibus bonding package for further consideration.
