The Vermont House Appropriations Committee on March 17 approved an amendment to H410 that changes where a $25,000 appropriation is sent, and then approved the bill as amended.
Chris of the Joint Fiscal Office explained the change: "This just recognizes the fact that the statistical analysis center gets its money through DPS and we need to route money through agencies and departments rather than directly to the programs." Under the amendment the appropriation is to be made from the general fund to the Department of Public Safety for contracted support related to the Vermont Statistical Analysis Center.
A motion was made to adopt House Appropriations Amendment draft 1.2 and seconded; the clerk conducted a roll call in which multiple members recorded "yes." The chair then moved to consider H410 as amended by House Judiciary and further amended by Appropriations; that motion was seconded and the clerk again called the roll. Members present voted to approve H410 as amended.
The committee did not debate additional substantive program changes to H410 during the Appropriations action. The chair thanked staff and designated a committee reporter for the bill.
Next steps: The committee concluded H410 business and proceeded to a section‑by‑section review of H933, a separate and more complex tax bill; no further action on H933 was taken at this meeting.
