County advances jail boiler fix, addresses sagging utility poles and prepares for new transit oversight

Dunegan also reported that several old utility poles were beginning to sag and encroach on new three‑phase power lines near the March tower and the county water tower; First Energy and Spielman Electric had been contacted and staff requested help expediting removals or replacements because poles could block access and create safety hazards.
At the Trumbull County Fair site, the county engineer described a site‑development plan to provide secure parking for mass‑casualty trailers and UTVs on fairground‑adjacent land and recommended awarding related fencing work to a Canfield contractor after soliciting multiple quotes; bid opening and award were scheduled for late April.
On transit, Mike Salamy, Trumbull County Transit Administrator, circulated an ODOT oversight packet that takes effect July 1 and requires more frequent documented site visits, preventive‑maintenance checks and file reviews; commissioners were told the county will need to designate who will perform transportation‑administrator duties and later pass a resolution.
