Plan commission approves Waunakee Senior Living renovation after neighbors press drainage and construction concerns

The Waunakee Plan Commission on Monday approved a site plan to remodel the Waunakee Valley Senior Living campus at 801 S. Klein Drive, conditioning final sign‑off on a handful of remaining planning and engineering items including ATC easement approvals, a recorded stormwater maintenance agreement and a consolidated CSM for the campus.

Residents who live adjacent to the property told the commission they remain worried about construction staging, traffic and stormwater. “This property is overloaded with traffic already,” said resident Mike Eastman, who lives five blocks from the facility, asking the village to require a neighborhood meeting and to ensure contractors keep equipment off residential streets. “We want the village to think about how that is going to be controlled,” he said.

Why it matters: The campus sits next to single‑family homes and will undergo interior and exterior upgrades, parking reconfiguration, new walking paths and a new northern sidewalk.…
