Ringgold board approves consent agenda items including personnel, technology purchases and scrapping older buses

The Ringgold School District board approved a slate of routine consent items by unanimous votes recorded in the meeting packet and on the record.
Items approved included revised Policy 66 (federal fiscal compliance); ratification of hires previously authorized by the superintendent (pending documentation); additional staff for the Extended School Year (ESY) and 2026 summer programming; hiring for summer programs as listed in the agenda; an unpaid leave of absence for employee UL2602 beginning April 9, 2026 for up to six weeks; and an agreement to exclude student 26 DA04 from in-person instruction under terms set out in the parties’ agreement. The board also approved the renewal of a DQE Communications agreement and the purchase of Chromebooks as presented.
Athletics hires were approved pending contract documents and required clearances. The board granted facility use requests, including Ringgold School District Police Department use of the high school media center for the National Association of School Resource Officers course (July 20–22, 2026), a drive-thru pet food bank (Washington Area Humane Society) on June 7, 2026, and the SPHS Summer Enhancement Program at Great Oak Elementary (July 13–30, 2026). Routine personnel resignations listed in the agenda were also accepted.
Administration asked for and received board approval to scrap older Blue Bird buses (model years and unit numbers were read aloud). A board member asked whether the district had considered donating buses to fire departments for training; Chief Joe said the district has donated buses in the past but that the receiving departments had not yet used them and they remained at the fire house. The motion to scrap the listed vehicles was moved by Mr. Moniz and seconded by Mr. Klein and carried by the board.
