Superintendent lists graduation dates, job fair and outreach; Secretary of State staff to visit

The teacher-of-the-year banquet is scheduled for April 22 at 5:00 p.m.; FIT graduation is listed for May 5, and the board discussed whether that conflicts with a May 5 board meeting. Oakill High School’s graduation is scheduled for May 21 at 6:00 p.m. on the football field; Midland Trail is scheduled May 22 at 7:00 p.m. on its football field; Meadowbridge High School is scheduled for the following Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the gymnasium.
The superintendent announced a recruitment job fair at central office on June 6 from 9 a.m. to noon and June 8 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Staff will deploy outreach including school buses and banners at community sites to promote hiring.
On academic scheduling: juniors will have an SAT test day this Thursday; the superintendent said 9th, 10th and 12th graders at regional high schools will not report that day so staff can proctor the juniors’ tests.
The superintendent said he had a two-hour conversation with Steven Snyder, who works with Secretary of State staff, and said Chris Warner (Secretary of State) and staff will visit Meadow Bridge April 24 at 9:30 a.m. to present a Jennings Award that the district has won for about 30 years; Snyder also expressed interest in the district’s entrepreneurship and empowerment initiatives and suggested possible state-level follow-up or pilot opportunities.
On enrollment, the superintendent reported 176 kindergarten registrations so far with site breakdowns provided: Meadowbridge 9, Valley PK8 43, Bed PK8 13, Midland Trail Elementary 22, New River Primary 65, and 32 online registrations; the district expects final kindergarten counts in the 330–350 range based on past years.
The superintendent said a staff member plans to write an article for the Fayette Tribune about Midland Trail registration and the new elementary school.
