Town Manager Stacey Tolbert on April 9 presented the Town of Lewisville's proposed fiscal year 2026-27 general fund budget of $7,923,881 and urged residents to review the plan ahead of a public hearing set for May 14 at 6:00 p.m.
Tolbert said the proposal is balanced with a planned use of $63,360 in fund balance and represents a 1.64% decrease from the prior year. "The proposed general fund budget is $7,923,881 for the upcoming fiscal year," she told the council, adding that the property tax rate would remain unchanged at 18 cents per $100 of assessed value and that one cent of the rate generates approximately $266,256 in revenue.
The nut of the proposal, Tolbert said, is maintaining current service levels and funding reserves while continuing authorized projects. The package includes participation in the federally funded Lewisville-Vienna/Robinhood roundabout (the town has been awarded $4,707,188), and the town carries $2,725,746 in a capital project fund for improvements tied to the Great Wagon Road project. Tolbert also noted the town is responsible for maintaining about 57.28 miles of right-of-way, including sidewalks, stormwater infrastructure and street trees, and that some systems are nearing the end of their life cycle.
Council members thanked staff for the budget work and asked about next steps. Tolbert said the full proposed budget will be posted to the town website on April 13 and outlined scheduled budget workshops on April 16, 21 and 30, with a possible follow-up workshop on May 18. The council voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 2026-012 to call the required public hearing on May 14.
The public hearing will be the formal opportunity for residents to comment before the council considers final adoption of the budget. The town said residents can find budget documents and workshop dates at www.lewisvillenc.net.
The council will review public input at the scheduled hearings and workshops and may adjust the plan before voting on final adoption.
