District says electric-bus rollout progressing; aims for 20 buses by Phase 2

On transportation, the trustee said the district has received four electric buses; charging stations are operational and the state will inspect the fleet once a fifth bus is delivered. Additional buses will arrive in coming weeks, with a second phase later this summer; the district expects to reach a total of 20 electric buses at the end of Phase 2. Trustees also said electric buses reduce long-term maintenance costs and help insulate operations from volatile fuel prices.
The sustainability committee announced a site visit on May 5 to view the Kennedy recycling program and the electric-bus charging infrastructure and plans a public media event to highlight the district’s progress.
