Medina City staff presented a two-part facility study RFQ covering (1) a needs and feasibility assessment for current and future staffing at City Hall and the police department and (2) a review of mechanical, electrical and space needs for City Hall, the police department and the municipal court.
Patrick said the city will advertise the RFQ, accept letters of interest, invite finalists for presentations, and return to council with a recommendation and proposed contract. The RFQ limits submittals to 20 pages and staff indicated May 15 as the target submittal deadline.
Chief Kinney said he was not an architect and welcomed outside consultants to identify needs; council members discussed forming a selection committee with the mayor, Chief Kinney, Nino and one council member. Staff reminded council that prior short-term leasing (three-year term with Metropolitan Housing) was intended to bridge until the study's recommendations are available.
No contract was awarded at the meeting; council approved the concept to advertise and asked staff to proceed with the RFQ and selection schedule.
