At its April meeting the Penn-Trafford School Board approved a series of consent and action items by roll-call votes.
Key approvals included a commitment letter for a $5 million revolving line of credit with S&T Bank to stabilize cash flow if state funding timing requires it; the collateral will be property-tax revenue and the authorized signers are the board president and the board secretary. Rebecca Jean Rodriguez, the board secretary and director of business affairs as noted in the meeting, explained the language update was required to meet lender documentation requirements.
The board also approved Resolution 2026-4-01 to execute an Apple Financial Services equipment lease for student devices. The approved lease reduced the device count from 1,300 to 1,240, saving $30,777 over four years and locking in the 0% interest rate staff had negotiated.
Facilities work approved included a local bid to Alloy Group to abate and remove asbestos-containing flooring at Ben Middle School, at a total cost of $31,685 to be paid from the capital projects fund; staff said the work is expected to be completed before the next school year.
Personnel actions approved by roll call included several extracurricular and athletic hires (cross country coach, assistant band director, multiple lifeguards, junior-high baseball coach, head wrestling coach, and head field hockey coach) contingent on required state clearances, and curricular staffing changes including long-term substitutes and a speech therapist. The board also accepted multiple teacher retirements effective May 26 and plans a retirement recognition at the district’s final meeting of the year.
Each measure was approved by roll-call vote during the meeting; staff provided budget and schedule summaries for the facilities and lease items.
