At its Jan. 20 meeting, the Waukegan Public Safety Committee approved two new items: a resolution authorizing the purchase of a rescue boat from Gravois Aluminum Boats LLC (DBA Metal Shark) for $748,358.35, and a software-as-a-service agreement with Life Safety Inspection Vault LLC that the department said carries no cost to the city.
The rescue-boat resolution was introduced in new business with an identified purchase amount of $748,358.35. Committee members asked operational questions; Alderman Newsome asked about seating and was told the boat’s maximum occupancy is 12 but that, with equipment, a practical working crew on certain calls would likely be five or six.
The rescue-boat resolution was moved and seconded and approved by roll call: Aldermen Newsome, Florian, Guzman, Donningworth and Chairman Martinez voted "Aye." The committee recorded the motion as carried.
The committee then approved a software-as-a-service agreement with Life Safety Inspection Vault LLC. Bradford explained that there is no cost to the city because the vendor collects payments from contractors as they upload system reports. That motion also passed on a unanimous recorded vote.
Both approvals were taken as discrete motions during the meeting and recorded by roll call. No amendments or contingencies were recorded on either motion in the transcript.
