Wiseburn board approves developer-fee increase, awards multiple construction contracts and sets sports complex ribbon-cutting

The Wiseburn Unified School District Board of Trustees on April 16 adopted a routine statutory increase to school facilities developer fees and approved multiple construction and modernization contracts tied to Measure E improvements.
District facilities staff explained the two‑year State Allocation Board adjustment: residential developer fees will rise from $5.17 to $5.38 per square foot and the commercial/industrial rate will increase from $0.84 to $0.87 per square foot, reflecting the statutory index. "This is just standard best practice to make sure that you are adopting a study to show justification for those statutory fees every two years," district staff member Rob said during the public hearing.
The board unanimously approved a slate of contracts and contract amendments tied to recent and upcoming projects, including additional work on the newly completed Wiseburn Sports Complex (added netting and bleachers), the Delair Elementary soccer-field replacement (award ~ $934,000), a Delair TK playground and turf replacement, a Delair flooring and ceiling refresh, and an exterior painting contract for Wiseburn Middle School (piggyback award ~ $799,417.77). Votes on these facilities items were recorded as 4–0 in favor.
District staff said the sports complex is functionally complete with a few long-lead items outstanding (decorative panels, sound-system component and netting). A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for next Friday at 5:00 p.m.; the district asked interested community members to RSVP.
Board members also approved personnel and labor arrangements related to the new facility: the board adopted a job description and salary schedule for a facilities attendant position intended to have staff on-site during open hours and events.
Why this matters: The approvals finalize major capital investments funded by Measure E and ensure maintenance/operations plans move forward. The developer-fee update aligns local fees with state statutory changes and preserves the district’s ability to capture fee revenue for future facility needs.
