Superintendent reports on assessments, arts and athletics as spring semester begins
Summary
Superintendent Dr. Stout told the board that elementary mid-year assessments are complete and teams are preparing for parent-teacher conferences; he also highlighted middle-school theater, spelling-bee results, and numerous high-school student achievements across arts, athletics and career-technical programs.
Superintendent Dr. Stout opened his report at the March 2, 2026 Owen J. Roberts School District board meeting by summarizing academic progress and school activities across the district.
Dr. Stout said all elementary schools have completed mid-year assessments and are using the results to measure student progress, identify areas for support, and prepare for parent-teacher conferences scheduled for March 4 and 5, when students will have half days. He described school culture initiatives — assemblies, field trips and PBIS rewards — and noted teams are preparing enrichment and targeted supports.
Middle-school highlights included four sold-out performances of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid musical and recent band and orchestra winter concerts. The OJRMS spelling bee (Jan. 22) featured 11 competitors and culminated in a final round won by Gotham (final word: "oppression"); Gotham also participated in the Chester County Spelling Bee.
At the high school, Dr. Stout reported a range of student accomplishments: a positive NJROTC inspection; the air-rifle team winning an area championship and traveling to nationals in Missouri; DECA students advancing to the international conference in Atlanta; PMEA regional and state music advances; mock-trial participation at the county justice center; art exhibits; indoor percussion placements; and spring-sports tryouts beginning. Dr. Stout also recognized staffing and counseling events supporting seniors and underclass planning.
The superintendent concluded by thanking staff and wishing retiring paraprofessional Kathleen Coleman well; Coleman participated in the meeting by Zoom and was noted for five years of service with the district and prior work supporting emotional-support students.
Next steps noted in Dr. Stout’s report include continued planning for spring extracurriculars and program-specific scheduling and advising.
