"We had this posted for over a year now... The previous title of the accountant topped out at 87,000," Vice Mayor Watson said, and added that the candidate interviewed well but “was a little bit over the initial salary of the accountant position.” He said, "This is what it took to draw this person in and stay competitive."
Watson said the administration had interviewed multiple candidates and that objectives for the role changed during the search. The change to the salary ordinance was described as part of the regular agenda; the transcript records explanation and discussion but no formal vote in the work session.
