The Goshen City Board of Public Works and Safety on Feb. 5 accepted the resignation of firefighter-paramedic Michael Fairfield, effective Feb. 2, 2026. The Fire Chief told the board Fairfield is leaving city employment to pursue a career in nursing and has accepted a position in Indianapolis; Fairfield also satisfied a conditional-offer requirement by paying $5,000 to the city for the remaining year of service.
The board moved and seconded a motion to accept the resignation and acknowledge the payment; the motion passed unanimously. The chief thanked Fairfield for his service to the department and the community and wished him success in his new career.
