The council reconvened June 25 to receive tabulated ballots on a Proposition 218 assessment for the Calabasas Park Estates Landscape and Lighting District. The city clerk read the weighted results into the record after a brief recess for tabulation.
A total of 160 ballots were counted. One hundred two ballots, representing $158,641.62 (64% of the total assessment by weighted obligation), were in protest; 58 ballots representing $90,271.98 (36%) were in support. The threshold for a majority protest was $158,641.62 (64%) and the number of protests met and exceeded that threshold. The city clerk certified the results and stated the proposed assessment failed and therefore will not be levied.
Staff told the council they will work with the homeowners association to align services with existing revenue and adjust maintenance and service levels to fit the confirmed budget. Council then approved the final engineers report for recordkeeping consistent with the tabulation outcome.
