The Kasson City Park Board discussed several revenue-generation ideas to support pool operations and park projects, including sponsor nights, vendor partnerships, point-of-sale round-up donations and a proposal to earmark a portion of municipal liquor-store revenue for park funding.
Members said sponsor nights — where a local business sponsors family-fun events or a day during the fair — could bring predictable revenue. A board member noted examples such as businesses sponsoring a day to allow employees and families discounted access.
The board also discussed a point-of-sale "round up" option so patrons could add small donations at checkout; staff said they will investigate whether the current point-of-sale systems used at city sites could support such a feature. "I'll look into see if it's something that we could do at our point of sale," a board member said.
Separately, members recalled a council-level conversation about the municipal liquor store and discussed designating a percentage of liquor-store profits each year to fund park projects. The board agreed to discuss the idea with city staff and council to determine feasibility and the proper mechanics for such an allocation.
Board members asked staff to compile concrete options and to reconvene on these ideas in January so the board can present clear proposals to council for funding or pilot programs.
