Council accepts donated 2025 Shelby County bus; agrees to maintain vehicle

The Columbiana City Council voted to accept a donated 2025 passenger bus from the Shelby County Commission at its March 4 meeting.
Mayor explained the county acquired the vehicle using ARPA funds and offered it to the city to replace an older shuttle. The resolution to accept the donated property was introduced, and the council adopted it by roll-call vote. Council members present voted in favor.
The mayor said he will sign the acceptance letter and noted the bus comes under warranty; the city will be responsible for ongoing maintenance and upkeep after acceptance. He also said the city plans to request donations for ridership rather than set a mandatory fare.
