Window Seat Media named Ken Bosley Historian(s) of the Year
Summary
After reviewing five nominees, the commission named Window Seat Media the Ken Bosley Historian(s) of the Year for sustained oral-history and storytelling work and agreed to publicly recognize the other nominees at the May 19 city council meeting.
The commission considered five nominations for the Ken Bosley Historian of the Year award and discussed merits including reach, year-round programming and community impact. Nominees included the Thirsten County Rack Kiosk Committee, Margie Wy, John Halverson, New Life Baptist Church’s pop-up Black History Museum and Window Seat Media.
Commission discussion centered on whether nominees tied closely to the historical society or commission should receive the city award and how to broaden recognition. Several commissioners said Window Seat Media’s sustained oral-history work and regional partnerships made it a strong candidate. A motion to name Window Seat Media the Ken Bosley Historian(s) of the Year was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote. Commissioners also voted to recognize all nominees publicly and to present awards and the museum annual report at the May 19 council meeting.
The commission instructed staff to prepare recognition materials for all nominees and to present the award recipient and nominees to the city council on May 19, 2026.
