City staff gave council a snapshot of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME program applications that will be reviewed by the planning commission and return to council for formal recommendations.
What staff said: there are 11 applicants; preliminary request totals are approximately $597,000 for CDBG and $185,000 for HOME. Staff cautioned that HUD’s final award numbers are not yet confirmed and that the snapshot shows more requests than available funding. "We are don't know what HUD is the exact awards are from HUD at this point," staff said.
Funding gap: staff reported the current application totals exceed available funds; on the preliminary slide staff noted a shortfall of about $241,000 in the CDBG pot and roughly $99,000 for HOME, figures they described as preliminary and contingent on HUD allocations.
Next steps: staff will forward formal recommendations to council in May after the planning commission’s review and once HUD award letters are finalized.
