Separately, staff recommended purchasing a Synology storage system with supporting hardware and software for district backups at $42,053.26. Cunningham said the district currently maintains two on-site arrays and cloud backups and that replacing arrays near end of life is standard practice to maintain three backup copies as a best practice.
Board members asked where the devices would be deployed; staff said devices would be distributed across grade levels with heavy allocations to middle schools and some machines assigned to elementary sites, and that only grades 10–12 currently take devices home. No formal purchases were approved during the meeting; staff will return with procurement schedules and any required board approvals.
