Dr. Einig described the engineering course as an industry‑leaning introductory class that uses computer programming, 3D printing and project‑based learning to prepare students for further robotics, materials and advanced engineering courses. She said the district can run the course with current teched staff next year but that there is an expected subscription fee to access Project Lead The Way resources and potential training costs for staff.
Art department coordinators Rachel (Mrs. Connell) and Mrs. Close proposed an Advanced Portfolio course focused on developing professional digital and physical portfolios, peer critique, and a culminating curated gallery exhibition. The course is aimed at seniors who want deeper preparation for postsecondary art programs or professional practice.
Board discussion focused on staffing, alignment with K–12 STEM and arts pathways, and site visits the district made to neighboring programs that have used similar frameworks. Administrators said they would return with any necessary staffing requests and budget implications; both courses were presented for approval consideration at future board meetings.
