Council approves $1.7 million professional services agreement for regional park phase two design

The Parker Town Council approved a professional services agreement to complete design and construction observation services for phase two of the Salzabari Regional Park project.

Staff said phase two will add amenities including additional lighted natural‑grass baseball fields, pickleball and tennis courts, playgrounds, a splash pad, parking and landscaping. Because the design team worked on phase one, staff recommended a non‑competitive procurement to preserve continuity and reduce time to delivery. Staff presented a proposed contract amount of $1,702,775 for design and construction‑phase services.

Councilors asked about procurement practice, funding timing and whether county reimbursements would be provided as reimbursements or grants. Staff said the town will receive county funding in staged reimbursements and that keeping the same consultant will reduce start‑up time and cost for phase two. Council approved the professional services agreement by motion and second; the motion carried.

What happens next: Staff will finalize the contract and proceed with the design and cost‑estimate process; construction timing will be refined as costs are confirmed and reimbursements are scheduled.
