MPO committee recommends FY27–31 Passenger Transportation Plan to policy board; public comment open

Hanna Neal, Associate Transportation Planner, asked the Transportation Technical Advisory Committee on March 24 to recommend the MPO FY27–31 Passenger Transportation Plan (PTP) to the Urbanized Area Policy Board for approval.
"Today, we are asking for a recommendation to the policy board regarding the approval of the MPOJC FY27–31 PTP," Neal said, noting the plan is required by the U.S. Department of Transportation to coordinate transit-related funding and program needs.
Neal told the committee that transit managers and advisory committees reviewed and helped update the plan’s goals, objectives and service priorities. Key priorities carried forward include late-night and weekend service for fixed route and paratransit, facilities and technology investments, training and regional service options, and service connections to health care and North Liberty.
Neal also said the public comment period on the draft is underway and will wrap up next week. She invited members to submit comments and noted that transit managers and IA DOT had been circulated the draft for review.
Committee members moved, seconded and approved recommending the PTP to the Urbanized Area Policy Board by voice vote. Staff said they would include committee comments as the plan moves to the board.
Neal flagged a local service change for committee awareness: "North Liberty service is going to cease on June 30 due to low ridership and funding," she said, and added that the MPO has been asked to assist discussions about next steps.
