At its meeting the Sutter County Board of Supervisors presented a 20-year service award to Scott Bowden of the Agricultural Commissioner's office and recognized interim fire chief Richard Everson (Everson/Epperson spelled inconsistently in the transcript) and battalion chief Carlos Del Rio for leadership during a transition. Lisa Herbert, Sutter County Agricultural Commissioner, praised Bowden's expertise in pesticide-use enforcement.
The board also proclaimed several observances: First Responder Wellness Week (March 23 references in the reading), Dispatch Appreciation Week (April 2026), National Public Health Week (April 2026), Week of the Young Child (April 11—17), Child Abuse Prevention Month (April 2026), National Crime Victims Rights Week (April 19—125) and National Library Week (April 19—125). The board recognized National Volunteer Week and the Sutter County Museum volunteers for donating nearly 5,000 hours of time, which staff said equated to more than $200,000 in value using the statewide volunteer rate cited in the proclamation.
Yuba College was recognized for student-success programs and recent awards, and students and Associated Students representatives thanked the board for the recognition. County Administrator Steve Smith invited the public to a museum exhibit opening and announced a rescheduled budget study session on April 29 at 6 p.m.
The recognitions were ceremonial and no formal policy changes or funding actions were taken at the meeting.
