The Red Bluff City Council unanimously approved a three‑year memorandum of understanding with Red Bluff Little League on March 17, allowing the league seasonal use of the Diamond Field in exchange for maintenance and a $500 fee for lighting.
Parks and Recreation staff recommended the MOU, which covers seasonal maintenance from March 15 through July 25 for three years. Under the agreement, Little League will maintain the field surface, pay $500 for lights usage, replace locks on storage and irrigation equipment and provide keys to city maintenance staff.
During public comment, Parks commissioners and other community members described additional commitments Little League has made to improve the field, including bringing in an infill dirt mix (staff cited a 4 cubic-meter quantity priced at about $504 as an example) and approximately 8 cubic yards of material to improve playing surfaces. A parks commissioner noted that these improvements would leave the field in better condition for community use.
Mark Clement moved to approve the MOU; Cassie Pope seconded. The clerk recorded a unanimous roll-call vote; the motion passed.
Council members and community representatives said they expect the partnership to benefit both the city and the league and that staff will monitor performance under the agreement.
