Warrick County drainage board approves drainage amendment for Take 5 site at State Road 66 and Bell Road

The Warrick County Drainage Board on a unanimous vote approved a drainage-plan amendment to allow infrastructure work on the vacant half of a 0.9-acre lot at the corner of State Road 66 and Bell Road, the board said.
Derek Rensler, a civil engineer with Land Design Development, told the board the change is minor and consists mainly of adding a handful of storm drains to direct runoff from a proposed bank outlot into an existing detention basin that already serves the adjacent Take 5 car wash. “So the changes are pretty minimal ... it's just addition of a handful of storm drains to make sure that that other lot drains,” Rensler said.
The plan calls for runoff from the neighboring property to flow into the Take 5 detention basin and out to State Road 66; Rensler said the Indiana Department of Transportation reviewed and approved the basin configuration for both the Take 5 site and the new outlot. A county representative said staff and the surveyor’s office reviewed calculations and concluded the amendment meets minimum county requirements.
A board member moved to approve the amendment, it was seconded, and the chair announced the motion carried unanimously.
The approval allows the property to be split and basic storm infrastructure installed so a future tenant can develop the outlot. Board staff said other development approvals and local permits will still be required for any specific project on the new parcel.
