The Elizabethtown Area School District board voted unanimously April 14 to contract Information Network Associates for temporary traffic control during the East High HVAC and renovation work from April 27 to May 29.
The motion, made by Mr. Gillis and seconded by another board member, was put to a roll-call vote and carried with all present members saying “yes.” Mrs. Maxwell conducted the roll call during the finance-related vote.
Administration told the board the contract covers traffic-control staffing for the renovation window; a map prepared by Miss Moffett will be reviewed with school staff and must be approved by the borough police chief before the contractor begins work. Board members sought assurance the timing would not extend into the regular school year; administration said internal construction is scheduled to occur after students leave and that drilling of wells will happen before or immediately after school ends.
The contract is described as temporary for the project’s duration and is intended to reduce district staff costs by using one paid traffic controller on East High Street while staff handle parking-lot control. The board’s approval authorizes administration to finalize the one-month contract and obtain the police sign-off needed for implementation.
The board had no other voting items on the agenda and adjourned after announcing executive sessions on personnel.
