Council approves minutes, consent agenda and committee reports; mayor highlights Strongtowns win

The West Allis Common Council convened April 14 and approved routine business items including the March 24, 2026 minutes and the consent agenda. Alderman Hos moved for approval of the minutes; the clerk recorded the voice vote as 10 in favor, 0 opposed. The consent agenda likewise passed by roll call (10–0).
Following committee recesses, council received and adopted committee reports from administration, public works, economic development and public safety; clerks recorded each committee report approval with unanimous recorded votes or voice votes, and council returned from recess to complete business.
In his mayor's report, Mayor Divine announced that the city won a national Strongtowns competition and will receive a mini-documentary and travel stipends for planning staff. He also recognized a West Allis Police Department awards ceremony, noted the grand opening of the Pickler pickleball facility on Highway 100 in a repurposed retail space, and thanked two recent retirees: Sharon Roy (DPW / senior center) and Detective Jessica Wink (West Allis Police Department).
Alderman Gisham also described a hazardous driving incident on National Avenue and urged caution during construction season; Alder Keane announced a neighborhood cleanup event paired with Wilson Elementary School.
Alderman Hos moved to adjourn; the motion carried and the council set its next meeting for April 28, 2026.
