Kale told the committee that, under the corporation’s rules, the annual meeting of members for the Milwaukee Metro Fire Rescue Corporation is scheduled for the third Tuesday of April at 4:00 p.m., this year on April 21. He said the meeting is primarily procedural — for changes to bylaws or other member-level decisions — and that council approval will be sought for any topics and to designate the city’s representative.
A committee member asked where the meeting will be held. The corporation’s lawyer answered that, by rule, the meeting is held at the corporation’s corporate headquarters (the lawyer’s stated address) by default, though the location can be changed if the members agree. Staff said the clerk, in the corporation’s role as secretary, will publish the agenda and that standard public-notice channels and media lists will be used to distribute it.
The committee clarified membership and voting authority: the “members” meeting is attended by the two member cities’ representatives (the mayor is the default attendee unless the mayor assigns a designee), while a separate six-member board of directors (three representatives from each member city) meets regularly to manage operations. The committee had no additional items for the members’ meeting and adjourned the public safety portion of the session.
