Supervisor Pis raised the timing question and confirmed SEESAC requested letters by April 7. Marcus Belrammo (community development) noted the governor’s May revision will follow and that early county support helps influence budget chair decisions. "SEESAC is requesting that letters be sent by April 7th," a supervisor said, and staff were asked to signal that letters are forthcoming and to bring a draft back for signature.
Supervisor Sabatier framed the discussion as a budget‑impact concern rather than a judgment on the merits of HR1. "This is not about the merits of HR1. This is about the shift of the cost coming to the counties," Sabatier said, urging staff and county leaders including Mr. O'Neal to coordinate lobbying and outreach.
Supervisors asked staff to prepare a draft for the April 7 meeting and to communicate with coalition partners that Lake County will sign and send the requested letter. The board gave no formal vote on policy at this meeting but directed staff to return with the draft and signatory plan at the April 7 session.
