Parker council approves feasibility study contract to evaluate senior‑center future

Town council voted unanimously to approve an agreement with Barry Dunn McNeel and Parker LLC to conduct a feasibility study of the Parker Senior Center.
Mary Colton, presenting staff, said the study responds to a senior center request for help understanding long‑term sustainability, governance options, facility condition and operational needs. The study will start in October 2025 and conclude April 30, 2026; town contingency funds will be used to cover costs and the town provides $80,000 in annual operational support to the center.
Colton said the consultant team is local and that the study will include an extensive community‑engagement process to identify stakeholders and solicit resident input. “This study will address governance models, financial sustainability, operational evaluation,” Colton said when asked to summarize the top priorities.
Council members expressed broad support for an independent, data‑driven review of the senior center’s options. Colton said the final report will be delivered to council and staff and will inform future decisions about facility maintenance, potential relocation or integration with town services.
No public comments were recorded on the item during the meeting; the ordinance authorizing the contract passed on second reading.
