St. Peter nets $9.12M in debt proceeds, sees lower interest; city secures state grant for 40 kW solar array

"The combined interest rate of the two different debt issues was 4.46%," Perry said, adding the lower rate reduces estimated annual debt service by roughly $15,000 compared with earlier projections. Perry also told the council the city spent about $2.25 million on the project in 2025 to date and will reimburse those expenditures from the debt proceeds.
Separately, Council member Brad reported the city received notice that it had been awarded a Solar for Cities grant that will cover 70% of a planned 40‑kilowatt array at city hall. Brad said remaining costs will be offset by available federal tax credits this year.
