District applies for COPS SVP grant to upgrade high-school cameras

District staff described a grant application to the federal COPS program (School Violence Prevention portion) that would fund camera upgrades to improve image quality and coverage at the high school.
Dr. Gleski said staff, including the director of security and other administrators, identified camera quality and angles as priorities for the large high-school campus and submitted an application requesting "over $200,000" to upgrade cameras and related equipment. She explained better image resolution was important to reduce pixelation when zooming to identify incidents.
Security staff (Mr. Blair and Mr. Pajoski) helped compile the list of needs and will continue to support the application and potential implementation. Dr. Gleski told the board the district expects notification of the grant award by September 30.
The board acknowledged the application and the district will report back when a funding decision is announced.
