County rescinds Hope Bridge wind CUP; Planning Commission weighs moratorium extension
Summary

At the end of the April 16 meeting, staff informed the Dickinson County Planning Commission that the county commission had rescinded the conditional use permit for the Hope Bridge wind project.
Staff said the action effectively ended that CUP and noted the county commission had taken related slides and materials presented for data centers and alternative-energy matters. Staff told the planning commission he would present background material on alternative energy and data center topics in June and offered to place an agenda item to consider an extension of the existing moratorium if the commission wished to make a recommendation before July 1.
Commissioners asked staff to keep the issue on their radar and consider scheduling the moratorium-extension discussion at an upcoming meeting (May 21 or June). No formal action on a local moratorium was taken during the April 16 meeting; staff framed the next steps as informational and procedural.
