Dr. Belts addressed the board during the meeting and thanked staff, students and community members for their support. "I just want to thank everyone . . . the support for me personally through some of those challenges . . . was very much appreciated," he said.
Board members offered public thanks. One member said the superintendent "handled [unique situations] in a very graceful way" and wished him well as he moves on.
The board did not record a formal timetable for a search or interim leadership in the transcript. The district will continue scheduled activities and events during Dr. Belts's remaining months, including open houses and planned safety drills noted later in the superintendent report.
The resignation was recorded as a motion and approved by roll call during the Aug. 26 meeting.
