Superintendent reports higher 4K enrollment, staffing timeline and district awards

Pulaski Community School District Superintendent Jenny delivered an extended district update that covered enrollment trends, staffing and budget planning, student activities and awards.
Jenny told trustees the district’s 4K enrollment is running at about 65 students this year compared with 39 at the same point last year; as a result, kindergarten enrollment is expected to be smaller this incoming year and district staff plan a marketing push to capture students who did not attend 4K. She said the district will present an initial 2026–27 staffing and budget plan at a March 4 workshop so postings and hiring can proceed after spring break.
The superintendent highlighted recent and upcoming student activities: the annual ChiliRific community event, the spring musical (Dr. Seuss–themed), winter sports senior nights and regionals with several students advancing to state competition, and ACT/assessment preparation for juniors. She also noted a student leadership opportunity in Madison tied to youth apprenticeship and that a guest speaker (Brandon, a former ESPN reporter who hosts the mental game podcast) will speak to students Feb. 26 and serve as the staff keynote for professional development Feb. 27.
Jenny announced the district’s middle school received the Spirit of Excellence award (region six and state-level winner), crediting student council leadership and advisors Amanda Jacobson and Sarah Morgan; the recognition includes a banner, traveling trophy, plaque and an opportunity to appear at a Milwaukee Bucks game.
The superintendent also described a school perception survey to support facility planning; staff will present the instrument March 4 and seek approval March 18 before public distribution in April–May.
The board did not receive public comment on these items during the meeting. The district’s next meeting is a workshop on March 4 to review the budget and initial staffing plan.
