The Westford School Committee met on April 13 and advanced routine consent items, staffing recommendations, and several policy and planning items for the district.
Committee members voted to appoint Melissa Boland as director of special education and social-emotional learning following the district search and recommendation process. During public comment and committee updates, the meeting included reports from student representatives, district leadership and committee members.
Members reviewed the district’s air equity audit, covering the final report and a supplemental assessment completed in December, and discussed an implementation guide for next steps. The committee also received an update on the district improvement plan and reviewed a draft strategic plan covering fiscal years 2027 through 2030; the transcript noted a formal vote on the new plan is expected later this month. The committee finalized the number of school choice openings for the upcoming year and discussed two fiscal-management policies related to building and grounds and the annual budget process.
The meeting concluded with an update on the Robinson School project and feedback from a public forum held earlier in the month. The broadcast used the name Westford Public Schools when referring to district matters.
