The March 31 board meeting included several community recognitions.
Board members called up and congratulated girls selected as Tech Trek finalists, a week-long STEM program at the University of San Diego scheduled for June 22–28. The board highlighted the nomination and selection process and took photos with the finalists.
Later the board presented the Classified Employee of the Year award to Rodulfo Roy Melendez, praising his data-analysis work, mentorship and community service. In the meeting the board also announced Roy was selected as the Los Angeles County Office of Education Employee of the Year and is being considered for a state-level award.
Roy accepted the recognition and thanked colleagues and family, saying he did not expect the honor and expressed gratitude for the support he receives in the district.
Why it matters: These recognitions spotlight student opportunities in STEM and celebrate long-serving staff whose contributions support district operations and data-informed decision-making.
What’s next: The district will host photo opportunities and local recognitions; county and state results for the employee award may follow.
