“The field the green itself is a ceiling of $300,000 with an 80/20 match,” the planner said during his presentation, describing the $75,000 local-match estimate and an approximately Feb. 2 application deadline for this round. Council members discussed phasing: the proposed trail and parking would be ‘phase one’ with later grants or federal funding used to expand park improvements.
Councilor Tommy moved to approve Resolution 2026-01 authorizing submission of the application; the motion was seconded and approved with no opposition. City staff and the planning firm will proceed with the application and coordinate documentation of pledged match funds before the city would accept any award.
Why it matters: if funded, the grant would provide a state-funded walking trail and basic amenities in Clear Park and could be leveraged for additional funding later. Council emphasized no immediate budget liability for the city absent written match commitments.
