Hopewell Area SD board approves website contract, several personnel moves and hires

At its March 3 work meeting the Hopewell Area SD board approved a $5,900 contract to update the district website, accepted a resignation, approved several status changes and leaves, and hired Jocelyn Sabruno as director of curriculum and instruction at $115,000 pending release; volunteer nurse Amanda Hoff was also approved for a band trip at no district cost.
The Hopewell Area SD board approved a set of votes on March 3 that included a website contract, personnel resignations and appointments, and staffing changes ahead of the board’s March 17 regular business meeting.
On finance items the board approved a contract with Educational Networks to develop a new local district website at a cost of $5,900. Mrs. Zupick presented the item and members voted to approve the contract by voice vote.
On personnel items the board accepted the resignation of employee number 2609, approved the appointment of volunteer nurse Amanda Hoff to accompany the band to Orlando (the board noted there is no cost to the district), and approved change-of-employment status from part-time to full-time for employees numbered 2130 and 2606 effective March 2, 2026. The board also approved an updated list of spring coaches and their salaries and approved an unpaid leave of absence request from employee number 2321.
The board voted to employ Jocelyn Sabruno as director of curriculum and instruction at an annual salary of $115,000, pending release from her previous employer. The hiring motion was followed by a roll-call vote recorded on the transcript with each listed board member voting yes and the motion carrying.
Board members welcomed Sabruno, who was introduced in the audience, with applause and congratulations. Several members noted the district will continue working on committee items and will bring additional budget and contracts (including a Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit operating-budget vote) to the March 17 meeting.
The meeting adjourned after announcements recognizing Hopewell youth cheer teams and reminders about the March 17 regular business meeting.
