Lyon County reads first reading of $2.4 million Delta Regional Authority water grant resolution

Lyon County Fiscal Court read County Resolution 11‑2024 at its Dec. 12 meeting, describing a $2.4 million grant award from the Delta Regional Authority to expand water lines and related infrastructure.

Judge Executive Jamie Smith, who presented the resolution for its first reading, said the county would serve as the administrator for the project and would be reimbursed for advertising costs the county incurred as the administrator. "This is the 2.4 million that county fiscal court was awarded to expand uh and there's some water lines," Smith said while reading the resolution. The presentation noted the City of Benville (city water district) is expected to provide a 20% local match.

The resolution text read in the meeting references connecting Lyon County water infrastructure to Princeton and Cole County systems and installing booster stations to serve parts of the county. Smith told the court the award requires timely action and said the county may need a special meeting to obligate funds by Dec. 31 if the Delta Regional Authority does not grant an extension.
